Costa Rica – I’m Here!
About 6 weeks ago, I realized the stars had aligned in such a way that it was the perfect time to visit Costa Rica. That’s not a life long dream of mine, just part of a recent fantasy about retiring somewhere outside the US. Mexico and Costa Rica are the top two contenders.
I’ve been to Mexico many times, visiting my daughter and the grandkids when they lived there. But I had never been to Costa Rica. Now, I’m writing this from the 2nd floor veranda of my hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica, enjoying the view of red and green rooftops and the wide open sky above them.
Last night, there were cats on the roofs, jumping lightly from one level to another. I don’t know if the hotel cat ventures out on the roofs or not. She seems quite content curled up here at the top of the stairs.
But it would be an easy leap from the top of this railing to the roof.
So far, the trip has been smooth as glass. I was worried about time between flights in Miami – they say 3 hours is recommended, I had 2. There was no need to worry. I got to the Savannah airport at 530 a.m. I walked through security in 5 minutes, strolled to Gate 14 in an another 5. A flight to Miami was leaving – only it was about to leave then, not at 7:00 when my flight was scheduled. I showed the woman at the desk my boarding pass, just to make sure, and she offered me a seat on the earlier flight.
I was thrilled! No waiting in Savannah, and the recommended 3 hours between flights! It looked like the universe was smiling on me. We got to Miami about 15 minutes early. It took about 20 minutes to get to my gate. And my flight was delayed. I imagined the universe laughing as I waited 4 and a half hours for my flight. Hurry up and wait…
But that’s ok. I’m here and loving it.
